The Mercedes-Benz logo is one of the most iconic in the world. Instantly recognizable, it continues to stand for the highest automotive standards all across the globe while effortlessly evoking the brand’s reputation for exquisite interiors and enthralling performance. That’s why you’ll find it crowning all new Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
The Mercedes-Benz 3 pointed star has an intriguing history of its own, so why not read on for answers to the following questions:
Mercedes-Benz was founded in Germany by Gottlieb Daimler back in 1890. Within the same year, Wilhelm Maybach and Emil Jellinek took over while Daimler’s sons, Paul and Adolf, stayed on and were tasked with designing the brand’s logo.
Paul and Adolf remembered a postcard their father had sent them in 1872 that marked out their home’s location with a distinctive 3-pointed star. It wasn’t long until all vehicles bore this insignia. The original was blue, but a laurel border was added in 1926, and the star was changed to silver in 1934. It’s that same logo you’ll now see on vehicles all across Holmdel and beyond.
The Mercedes-Benz 3 pointed star has come to mean luxury from Rumson and Spring Lake to the furthest corners of the automotive world, but it has a meaning beyond that. Each point of the star represents one of the three fundamental environments that man had traversed at that point: land, sea, and air.
Fans of performance-focused driving will know the Mercedes-Benz AMG® logo looks a little different from the standard Mercedes-Benz logo. Slightly more complex, it features a valve, cam, and valve spring to the right and an apple tree set along a river to the left.
The AMG® Mercedes-Benz logo meaning is simple enough. Those items to the right are most foundational engine parts and represent the company’s dedication to forward-thinking engineering. To the left is the coat of arms for Affalterbach, where the Mercedes-Benz AMG® headquarters is located.
