What Are the Differences Between Mercedes-Benz Service A vs. Mercedes-Benz B Service?

When it comes to Mercedes-Benz service, owners often hear mentions of these two intervals: Mercedes-Benz Service A and Mercedes-Benz Service B. You have probably received notification that you need one of these services. What do they cover? Learn about the Mercedes-Benz A and Mercedes-Benz B checklist before scheduling your next service appointment.

What’s the Mercedes-Benz Service A Checklist?

Mercedes-Benz Service A* is performed after one year or 10,000 miles, or whichever comes first. While these services performed can vary depending on the model year of the car you’re driving, Service A includes the following services:

  • Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement**
  • Oil Filter Replacement**
  • All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on factory-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model
  • Tire inflation check and correction
  • Brake component inspection
  • Reset maintenance counter
  • Adhere to all required elements listed by model year and specific model as indicated on the corresponding service sheet for Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Systems in the USA.

Mercedes-Benz Service B Checklist

Mercedes-Benz Service B* is performed at 20,000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first. During Service B, the following services are carried out:

  • Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement**
  • Oil Filter Replacement**
  • All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on factory-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model
  • Tire inflation check and correction
  • Brake component inspection
  • Reset maintenance counter
  • Cabin dust/combination filter replacement
  • Brake fluid exchange
  • Adhere to all required elements listed by model year and specific model as indicated on the corresponding service sheet for Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Systems in the USA.

Service A vs. Service B Intervals: What’s the Difference?

A key difference between Mercedes-Benz Service A and Mercedes-Benz Service B is the time intervals. Again, Service A is suggested after 1 year or 10,000 miles, or whichever occurs first. Service B is recommended after 2 years or 20,000 miles, or whichever occurs first. With the actual services being performed, Service A and Service B tasks are pretty similar. However, during Service B, your car gets a brake fluid replacement and a cabin air filter replacement. Certain Mercedes-Benz CLA and GLA AMG® models will also get an engine air filter replacement during Service B.
